Am I sounding anti-Microsoft??

And here's a video hitting the Microsoft nail on the head...

I'm beginning to sound pretty anti-MS posting these videos here. But truth be told... I run a Windows computer at home and at work, use MS Office Pro, Firefox, gmail, hotmail for my junkmail (but it was my first love!), PS2 as my game machine, Netscape mail client at work, have worked with a Microsoft partner and delivered .Net apps for clients, think the .Net platform is darned good and would recommend it in a wink for quick solutions, used to be in a job that I lost because MS CRM did us in, have interviewed with Microsoft in the past, generally think they are pretty sincere about what they try to do, and goddammed darn good at making money! Not so anti-them really...just picking what I like.

But heck, you still have to watch this video running them down...

What if Microsoft designed the iPod?

This one on YouTube is too funny! Aboslutely cooool!! And then to think of it that both Microsoft and Apple are companies of the same vintage. That's atleast one solid data point that goes to show that corporate age is not directly proportional to corporate senility. Some companies do a great job growing cooler by the day. Or maybe its just about Bill vs Steve. What do you say?

My favorite toy from the eighties...

A video commercial from 1983 featuring the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, my very first home computer.

My dad got the Spectrum for me in 1985 when I was in the 9th grade. It was the best selling home computer in Britain at the time, and I was pretty crazy about it, writing BASIC programs, playing and trading games :), and saving up pocket money for accessories. The Spectrum was also marketed in the US under the Timex brand, but there were other brands more popular in the US at the time, such as Apple and Commodore, and to some extent Texas Instruments and Atari. Those of us who were into this stuff at school were divided into camps, primarily Commodore 64 vs. ZX Spectrum, which were the more affordable home micros (as the Brits liked to call them). A few kids were into Apple as well, which had better capabilities, but was more expensive. Soon ofcourse, later in high school, most of us were stepping onto our first PC's...

For those who've ever been a fan of the Spectrum, here's a site that calls itself the world archive for everything related to the machine. Including Spectrum emulators!! - www.worldofspectrum.org
